Symphony Band
The Symphony Band comprises the most proficient wind and percussion students at Skyline. Symphony Band performs advanced wind band literature, and appears at various contests and festivals throughout the winter and spring.
In the fall, the Symphony Band is the Skyline Marching Band, and performs a new show at each Varsity home football game. After the marching season, the band begins preparing for the first concert. Symphony Band members are also expected to participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Select symphony band members rehearse with the Orchestra twice a week for a full orchestral experience. Members of the full orchestra are responsible for attending Orchestra concerts and events as components of their band grade.
Most Symphony Band members study privately with the top private instructors in the Ann Arbor area. Contact info for a wide network of qualified professionals is posted in the band room. Additionally, families can email Mr. Smith for referrals.
